Sustainable Marketing

SUSTAINABILITY YOU CAN PROVE

The rules are changing. New EU rules on environmental claims (Directive 2024/825) set September 2026 as the date from which generic claims such as “eco-friendly”, “green” or “carbon neutral” can no longer be used without evidence. For brands, this is not the end of sustainability communication. It is the beginning of a more honest one.

At MyIdeas, we help our clients and partners move towards more sustainable business practices and communicate them with clarity, accuracy and evidence. We integrate environmental, social and economic considerations into our strategic work, so that every word your brand says about its impact is a word it can stand behind.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Directive (EU) 2024/825 set 27 September 2026 as the date for its rules to apply across the EU, as each country brings them into national law. It bans generic environmental claims such as “green”, “eco-friendly” or “carbon neutral” when they cannot be backed by evidence, as well as sustainability labels not based on credible certification schemes.

If your communication to consumers uses vague or unproven environmental claims, it should be reviewed. Websites, packaging, social media and advertising are all in scope. Our Green Claims Review identifies risky claims and rewrites them so they stay compelling and credible.

It is a review of your website, campaigns, packaging and social media against the new EU rules on environmental claims. We flag generic or unsupported claims, assess the risk and propose clear, evidence-based alternatives. It does not replace legal advice.
